OUR FIRST VIRTUAL CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

On 10 February 2021, PPB had a virtual CNY celebration with three welfare homes in Petaling Jaya, namely, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Warga Emas Kenang Budi Kuala Lumpur; Persatuan Kebajikan Chen Ai OKU; and Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-orang Tua Bahagia Selangor (En Yuan).

The e-celebration started off with a warm welcome speech by Ms Koh Mei Lee, Head of Corporate Affairs of PPB, followed by a short quiz on CNY celebrations. Thereafter, everyone had “Loh Sang” together followed by lunch, catered by PPB.

The e-celebration was a first time experience for the homes as well as for PPB. Thanks to modern technology, we were able to celebrate together despite the MCO.

Two other homes that were unable to participate in the e-celebration, Sg Way Old Folks Home and Yi Xing USJ Old Folks Home, received warm and delicious CNY dinner meals delivered to them.

PPB also contributed items requested by the homes such as groceries and electrical appliances besides giving them mandarin oranges, cookies made by single mums and customised t-shirts.

HARI RAYA CELEBRATIONS 2021

Due to increasing COVID-19 cases and MCO restrictions, PPB organised delivery of scrumptious “buka puasa” meals to 10 families in the B40 group in the Klang Valley during the fasting month, much to the families’ delight. On the 3rd day of Hari Raya, a Raya lunch menu was catered for 3 welfare homes in Klang Valley, viz Rumah Bakti Al-Kausar, Pusat Jagaan Dan Rawatan Orang Tua Al-Ikhlas and Rumah Bakti (Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Hulu Kelang). PPB also contributed items requested by the homes such as groceries, electrical appliances and furniture.

DEEPAVALI CELEBRATIONS 2021

In conjunction with the Deepavali celebration, PPB catered lunches for two welfare homes in the Klang Valley; they were Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai Selangor (YM) and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Waja Home Malaysia (WHM).

YM is a welfare home established in 2004 for the underprivileged children, single mothers and senior citizens. They have 3 shelters for 55 residents and an education centre to provide tuition and IT classes for children from needy families. As YM aims to empower their residents and the B40 group in their neighbourhood with sewing skills, PPB sponsored three units of sewing machines as requested by the home. YM currently has a skilled tailor who volunteers to teach them to sew sarees and Punjabi suits.

Founded by Mr Luke Deva Anbu and family in 2008, WHM is an orphanage located in Klang. Waja Home currently cares for 30 children aged 2 to 20 years mainly from broken families, or referral by their relatives or the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia. PPB provided groceries and inner wear urgently requested by the home.

PPB also assisted a retired security guard who was diagnosed with prostate cancer from Kluang, Johor to demolish and rebuild a new roof structure for his house that was badly damaged by termites.
